The Missouri Libertarian Party is the Show Me State's Libertarian state affiliate. The Party has many elected officeholders, including several city council members and a mayor. As an official party in Missouri, it does not have to obtain signatures to get ballot access. Prominent candidates in 2008 were Andrew Finkelstadt (gubernatorial), Teddy Fleck (lieutenant gubernatorial), Wes Upchurch (secretary of state), and Tom Knapp (U.S. House). The affiliate publishes the Show Me Freedom Newsletter. The Party has agitated for the repeal of the requirement that new Libertarians agree to the Libertarian pledge.[1]
